The Chancellor has announced that with effect from Friday 1st January, 2010, the standard rate of VAT will return to 17.5% from its reduced rate of 15%.
This change is indefinite unless further changes are announced by the Chancellor in the future.
 
For our Epyx Hire Network system the following applies:

   Vehicles where the Debit Memo Request is created up to December 31st, 2009 will be charged VAT at 15%

   Vehicles where the Debit Memo Request is created from January 1st 2010 could have VAT applied at 15% or 17.5% depending on the rate of VAT charged to Arval by our supplier

   Therefore, you could receive invoices dated January (or later) with car hires at 15% VAT and 17.5% VAT

   Any credits due will apply the rate of VAT applicable at the date of the original invoice
